A fairy-tale city of romance, legends and sheer beauty, Cartagena de Indias is the most beautiful city in Colombia, with cobbled alleys, enormous balconies and massive churches. It is Colombia’s largest port and an important industrial center. We were just happy to be back on land again!
Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas is the greatest fortress constructed by the Spanish in any of their colonies. Work begun in 1639 but was not completed until some 150 years later; it proved to be truly unassailable and was never taken. – Lonley Planet
